The Man Daniel
A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. Proverbs 18:16
Bible Reading: Daniel 2:20-23
King Nebuchadenezzar had a very troubling dream and he requested that the magicians and astrologers tell him the dream but they could not. So, he ordered for all the wise men of Babylon to be killed because they were unable to tell him his dream and interpret it. Daniel learned about this as he was also about to be executed like other astrologers in Babylon. Daniel took the issue to God and the dream was revealed to Daniel in a vision and God gave him the interpretation of the dream. When Daniel declared the dream to King Nebuchadenezzar and told him the interpretation, the king was astonished that he fell down and worshipped Daniel. The king also gave gifts to Daniel and promoted him as a ruler over Babylon.
Today’s memory verse says “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men”. Daniel could interpret the king’s dreams because God has blessed him with the gift of interpreting visions and dreams (Daniel 1:17). Whatsoever gift that God has blessed you with, never loose sight of it. Keep working on your gift and stay connected to God, the Giver of gifts. As you do this, God will amplify your gift and open doors for you in great places. Do you know your gift? Maybe you need to sit and take stock of what you feel you do with so much ease and you enjoy doing it. There are also gifts of the Spirit, bestowed on us when we receive the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 12). Your gift could be drumming, or singing, maybe leading people, playing the keyboard, teaching, writing, analyzing data, building reports, doing research? Focus on your gifts and let God use it for His glory like he did unto Daniel.
Daily confession: I choose to please God with my gifts.
Intercessory prayer: Let us pray for Christian families all over the world, that God will be glorified in our homes and the light of Jesus will shine through our families in Jesus name.
Hymn: “Must I go, and empty handed?”
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him,
Must I empty handed go?
