Jesus, the Resurrection and Life
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” John 11:25 NKJV
Bible Reading: John 11:1-44
Today’s Bible reading reveals Jesus Christ as the resurrection and life. Lazarus of Bethany, Mary and Martha’s brother was sick. The sisters sent words to Jesus with the hope that Jesus would make it to their place on time. Eventually, Lazarus died. When Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it” John 11:4. Few days after Lazarus’ death, Jesus decided that it was time to pay Martha and Mary a visit because “our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up” John 11:13. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met with Jesus and told Jesus, “Lord. If You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You” John 11:22. Mary also heard about Jesus’ coming and came to meet Jesus. She said the same thing but Jesus told her, I am the resurrection and life. Due to Jesus’ love for this family, he wept. Eventually, Jesus prayed and called forth Lazarus out of the tomb and Lazarus rose from the dead. Jesus showed that He has power over death. He does not give life, He is Life. Dear friends, as we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is important to be reminded that Jesus is the resurrection and life. In Him is Zoe, God kind of life. Apart from the the great and mighty things He can do in and for our lives, whosoever that believeth in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.
Daily Confession: Jesus I acknowledge you as the resurrection and life in my life, in my home, in my circumstance and all over the world till eternity.
Intercessory prayer: May the resurrection power of Jesus encounter the world and bring healing and restoration to the world in Jesus name.
Hymn: My faith looks up to thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine, now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
