God Cares
Casting all your care upon him; for he care for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Bible Reading: Matthew 6:25-34
If we have personal revelations of who God is, we will enter our rest. That’s why knowing God is important because ‘according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue’ (2 Peter 1:3). One of the revelations about God is that He genuinely and deeply cares for us. He is not only interested in our eternity, spiritual standing with Him, He truly cares for every aspect of our lives — spirit, soul and body. He knows us and takes the time and attention to meet us at the points of our needs. He customize our care to fit our needs. The Children of Israel are a classic example. God heard their cry in Egypt and He raised someone in the person of Moses to deliver them. Despite the murmuring and ungrateful attitude of the Israelites, God still loved them and blessed them. He provided for them in the wilderness, instructed them, fed them and gave them all they needed. What a loving God we serve!
In our Bible reading today, Jesus’ sermon centered on the need to focus on the kingdom rather than worry about our needs — ‘Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you’ (Matthew 6:33). Jesus noted that if God could take good care of the lilies of the valley and the bird of the air, how much more of his children who are created in His image and after His likeness? Many times we are so troubled and worried about everything — from daily needs to future desires. What will I eat? Who will I marry? What will my future look like? Where will I live? How will I feed my family? Etc While these questions are not bad in themselves, they should not bring us into existential crises and worry. Rather we are to focus on Jesus Christ and seek His kingdom and in the process He will help us answer these needs one after the other by blessing the works of our hands, directing us and instructing us etc. Dear friends, cast all your care unto God, no matter how many they may be. Learn to pray about it, take required actions and trust God to make all things work out for His glory. This is how Apostle Paul puts it: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passed the all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Daily Confession: My Heavenly Father, I am grateful that You love me. Help me to cast all my cares unto You in Jesus name, amen.
Intercessory prayer: Prayer for your family members who are yet to know Jesus Christ or have backslided for God’s restoration
Hymn: I have found a friend in Jesus-
He’s ev’rything to me,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Lily of the Valley- in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
In sorrow He’s my comfort, in trouble He’s my stay,
He tells me ev’ry care on Him to roll;
He’s the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the greatest of ten thousand to my soul.
