God Answers
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Bible Reading: 1 Kings 18:25-40
God does not only hear our prayers, He answers them. Depending on our request, God speaks back to us — even in silence. The Bible is full of both individuals and collective groups who prayed unto God. For instance, Isaac prayed on behalf of his wife and God opened up her womb (Genesis 25:21). The people of Nineveh called upon God in genuine repentance and God saved them (Jonah 3:5-10). In our Bible reading today, prophet Elijah called the prophets of Baal to a duel. He wanted to test whether God answers prayers or whether it was Baal. Unfortunately for the worshippers of Baal, their goal did not answer. After almost a day of call on Baal, they gave up and turned over to Elijah. Elijah prayed a simple prayer and God answered him instantly and generously. Dear friends, praying without ceasing is important and you can go to God in confidence and assurance that when you call him in holiness and righteousness, He will answer. At KSi, we encourage you to pray to God concerning issues of your heart and intercede for others. And if you don’t have the boldness to come to the throne of grace because you haven’t give your life to Jesus Christ, today is another opportunity to receive the gift of salvation and redemption that is in Christ Jesus. God bless you.
