Proven Character (II)
My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. Galatians 4:19
Bible Reading: Galatians 5:22-26
Yesterday we established the fact that when we give our lives to Christ, a faith journey begins. We are called to learn of Christ and become like Christ in every aspect of our lives. This means that the transformation that happened to our spirit man will begin to manifest even in our soul and our body. Our character, attitude and lifestyle will be refined and gradually as we learn of Christ, our lives will start manifesting Christ. This is the reason why Apostle Paul says that, “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20a). From our memory verse today, Apostle Paul’s statement raises an important point: What do we need to do for Christ to be formed in us? Apostle Peter answer this question in thus: “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”. (2 Peter 1:3-4). Our knowledge of Christ is important. We have to study to show ourselves approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15). Like God’s instruction to Joshua, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.(Joshua 1:8 KJV). Dear friends, a daily study of God’s word will expose us to the character of Jesus and if we truthfully look into the mirror of God’s word, our lives will be transformed.
