God Surrounds Us
And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 2Kings 6:1 7
Bible Text: 2Kings 6:15-17
In today’s devotional, we shall examine the story of Elisha and his servant when they were surrounded by the host of Syria. Prophet Elisha was a revered man of God in Israel, God had used him to expose the plans of the King of Syria against Israel’s king on several occasions, so the King of Syria was angry. He wanted to know who revealed his plans unto his foe, King of Israel continually. One of the servants explained to the King of Syria that there was a man of God in Israel who exposes the king’s secrets to Israel’s king, and a host was being sent to capture Elisha in Dothan by night. Upon rising up the next day, Elisha’s servant saw that the city has been surrounded by a host of chariots and horses and he was afraid. However, God made Elisha to know that He was with them, Elisha then told his servant to not fear, assuring him of God’s presence with them.
Elisha asked that God open the eyes of his servant and when He did, he saw an innumerable host and chariots of fire round about them. Beloved, God is at work in your life, even if you don’t see or feel it. God has promised to be with us till the end of time and He is ever true to His word. Romans 8:31 says “If God be for us who can be against us?” Ours is to ensure that we remain on God’s side at all times by living in holiness and doing His will and we will enjoy divine victory over all seen and unseen enemies surrounding our lives in Jesus name.
Self reflection: Rest assured that God is with you and He is at work in your situation.
Daily Confession: Father, please fight all my battles and help me to hold my peace.
Intercessory prayer: Intercede for those who are in the prison for an encounter with God to transform as many that need transformation and for God mercy.
Hymn: Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure;
Save from wrath and make me pure.
