Do Whatever He Tells You
His mother said to the servant, ”Do whatever he tells you” John 2:5
Bible Reading: John 2:1-12
The old kindergarten rhyme – ‘obedience is the very best way to show that you believe, doing exactly what the Lord command and doing it happily’. When we obey God, we attract His blessings into our lives and those around us.
Jesus’s mother instructed the servants at the wedding to do whatever Jesus tell them to do. I imagine her emphasizing this instruction. It means obey, do not argue with him because whatever he tell you to do may sound illogical. Don’t try and reason his instructions from your human perspective because many times His ways are higher than ours.
Someone once said that obedience to God is becoming a scarce virtue because many want to follow their heart desires rather than God’s. It should not be scarce for the children of God. At the right time, Jesus instructed the servants to fill the jars with water, draw some out and take it to the master of the feast. The  master of the feast was amazed because the wine was sweeter than the first. Dear friends, as God instructs you, do whatever God ask you to do and your life will never be the same.
Self-Reflection: How often do I obey God’s instruction?
Daily Confession: Lord Jesus help me to obey You as you instruct and lead me, amen.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for ministers of God for grace to obey God’s instruction amidst oppositions.
Hymn: Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey.
