Correction with Love (I)
Correct the son, and he shall give thee rest, yes, he shall give delight unto the soul. Proverbs 29:17
Bible Reading: Hebrews 12:5-12
God’s love for His people is unconditional. Romans 5:8 puts it this way “But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners,Christ died for us”. God loves us regardless of who we are and what we have done, however, when we come to God through Jesus Christ, God expects a transformation to occur within us. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that “therefore  if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new”. Hence, we must embrace the newness that accompanies being in Christ. The essence of God’s love is to draw us closer unto Himself, that we may be like Him ultimately.
For us to be like Christ, we need to go through  his prunnings because this is how God’s nature utis formed in us. For instance, as parent watches the child and correct every form of negative behavior in that child, so must we submit to God and need his correction. As we grow in Christ and in our daily living, the is the need to constantly be in tune with God and yield his correction because as humans, we err in many ways, without realizing it sometimes. But when we yield our spirit man to the Holy Spirit, he draws our attention to those things that will not be acceptable to God that we might be involved in. To others, such things might appear trivial, but to God it constitutes sin. This is the same with us parents, our correction of our children is independent of what others think or how they live their lives but on the godly values and virtues which we want our children to imbibe. If God is our Father, then we must be disciplined and embrace His correction.
Daily Confession: As for me and my household will serve the Lord and we will yield to His corrections.
Prayer point: Pray that God will give you a tender heart to embrace His corrections at all times.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for parents for God’s wisdom to discipline and correct in love.
Hymn: Lead us, heavily Father lead us
