A Heart of Worship (III)
‘…God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth’ (John 4:24, NIV)
Bible Reading: John 4:21-26
To pick up from where we left yesterday, the Samaritan woman’s conversation with Jesus unveiled some revelations– that God is relational and He desires those who will worship, worship Him wholeheartedly not as lip service. In fact, He wants relationship with us and He did everything to restore and reconcile man to Himself. We are reminded that we are created for His purpose – to worship Him. Also, God did not give us a responsibility without resources to carry it out. He has made provision for all to come to Him through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit has been given unto us. In fact, ‘He is at work in us both to will and to do for His purpose’ (Philippians 2:13). The woman’s encounter with Jesus enlightened her to the point that she saw herself in need of Jesus. She was not condemned but convicted and Jesus Christ lovingly showed her mercy. Although he revealed some difficult aspects of her life which surprised the woman, She offered her Life. At the end of the conversation, she ran to the city to witness about Jesus Christ and she brought others to see Jesus.
The truth about true worship is that it is God-centered. We only need to look unto Him as the author and the finisher of our faith. When we truly encounter Jesus Christ, there is a transformation that happens within which will eventually impact us on the outside. There is an enlightenment and a newness that dawned on our spirit that changes us. No wonder Apostle Paul prayed ‘that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe…’ (Ephesians 1:18-19a).  Finally, our encounter in true worship will draw others to Christ Jesus because we will become true witnesses. Our light will shine for others to see and give glory to our heavenly Father.
Daily Confession: Heavenly Father thank you for salvation and for reconciling me to yourself. Help me to be a true worshipper who will desire nothing else but you.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for unity, peace and wisdom in our homes and families.
Hymn: Knowing You Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my all, You’re the best
You’re my joy, my righteousness
And I love you Lord.
