A Heart of Worship (V)
‘…I die daily’ (1 Corinthians 13:31)
Bible Reading: Romans 12:1-2
Yesterday we emphasized that sacrifice is an essential part of true worship. Sacrifice to mean being sold out to God and living totally for Him. Today, I invite you to reflect on this further.
Apostle Paul admonishes us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto the Lord. This in itself is our reasonable act of worship. What does it mean to be a ‘living sacrifice’? Normally, a sacrifice is not meant to be alive; it is dead because it has been killed, laid on an altar and consumed by fire. Apostle Paul metaphor is powerful and meaningful. Apostle Paul was referring to the flesh that must die daily. The flesh and the will must be put on the altar everyday so that we can be fully devoted to Jesus. Apostle Paul puts it in another way, ‘… I die daily’ (1 Corinthians 13:31). I do not allow the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life to control me. Rather, I submit my body to the discipline of the spirit, I am a living sacrifice- dead to sin but alive in Christ Jesus. Dear friends, as we have embark on the journey of a new month, partner with the Holy Spirit so that you can truly be a living sacrifice for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Daily confession: Lord Jesus thank you for the Holy Spirit who is my Help. I partner with the Holy Spirit daily, amen.
Intercessory prayer: pray for the church of God at ths end time that the church will arise and take its place and hope will be restored.
Hymn: Is your all on the alter of sacrifice?
Of sacrifice laid?
Your heart does the Spirit control?
Now, u can only, only, only be blessed
And have peace and sweet rest
After you have yielded Him
Yielded Him your body and your soul
