Do Not Forget God
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God:  for it is he that give them thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day. Duet. 8:18
Bible Reading: Psalm 77:9-13
Welcome to today’s devotional. Today’s Bible reading admonishes us to remember what God has done for us in the past. Also, we must remember God’s doings in the present moment and in the future, this is because God is in our future even before we get there. He is not bound by time. Remembering what God has done for us requires an act of meditating on His wonders, those answered prayers that we received, His favour, mercies, and love. As we remember God’s deeds, our hearts should be filled with gratitude (Psalm 44:3). Like David in today’s Bible reading, he meditated on God’s goodness and he penned down his thoughts. So, one way to remember God is by meditating on His goodness. Another way of remembering God is by being thankful (Psalm 136:1). Thirdly, we remember God when we share testimonies of his faithfulness, and encouraging those who may be in similar situation. We must also share these testimonies with our immediate families, our children and children’s children, (Deut. 4:9). Lastly, we must remember God by by keeping memories of what God has done for us, this can be done in writing. When we do not forget God’s deeds in the past, it gives us hope for the future, an assurance that all will be well, regardless of what our present circumstance may look like.
Daily Confession: Father, I thank you for your faithfulness in the past.
Intercessory Prayer: Let us pray for our friends who are yet to experience God’s love, that God will reveal himself to them.
Hymn: I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me
I am so glad that Jesus loves me
Jesus loves even me.
