The Power of a Made-up Mind (V)

Then the king gave Daniel high honors and many great gifts and made him ruler over the wholeprovince of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. Daniel made a request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king’s court. (Daniel 2:48-49). [NKJV]

Bible Reading: Daniel 2:46-49

I recently saw an animated movie about the story of Daniel. It is refreshing to see characters from the Bible being brought to life. In the version I saw, king Nebuchadnezzar bowed before Daniel after Daniel had revealed and interpreted the king’s dream. He did not bow to Daniel but to the God of Daniel who could reveal such a mystery. Remember the king’s magicians, astrologers, sorcerers and the Chaldeans told the king that his request to tell him his dream was impossible (Daniel 2:10). Of course, when God is being honoured, His children are being honoured also. Homage would not have been paid to Daniel, God’s name would not have been praised throughout the land, and Daniel and his friends would not have been promoted if they did not propose to set themselves apart for the Lord. They came with a different traditions, mindset, religion and way of life as Hebrews and they stood for God even in a foreign land. They even prayed to God to reveal the king’s dream and God answered their prayer. Here’s the word for today: we bring glory to God when we stand for Him.
