Active Prayer for Our Leaders
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives is all godliness and holiness. I Timothy 2:1-2
Bible Reading: Nehemiah 10
The children of Israel collectively appreciated and blessed their leaders. These leaders who would have lived in their hometowns willingly offered to live in Jerusalem to lead the people. I imagine the newly-selected leaders facing the challenge of relocating from one place to another.Perhaps these leaders would have been encouraged spiritually, physically and emotionally knowing that the people they serve acknowledge them. The people’s response perhaps might boost the leader’s sense of responsibility and accountability among others.
In the same vein, let us learn to acknowledge, pray and encourage our God–given leaders. We should also appreciate people’s sacrifices to ensure that we become who God wants us to be. The list is not limited to our parents, guardians, spiritual leaders, political leaders, siblings, and friends. Always remembers that they are human beings too who need God’s wisdom, grace, and strength to guide and support us on the right path.
Self-Reflection: Praying for God’s leaders is God’s will. Pursue it.
Action Point: Pray for your leaders today and bless them by giving.
Hymn: Oh, how praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day.
So, when life gets dark and dreary,
Don’t forget to pray.
