Goal Setting

Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterward build thine house. Proverbs 24:27

Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:5-7

God continuously looks out for men and women who will seek out His divine plan for their lives, work towards fulfilling it and overcome every obstacle on their way. This is what good success is all about according to Joshua 1:8. Every successful leader usually has a clear sense of direction and must set specific, measurable, achievable and time-based goals that guide his daily life.

Goal setting helps to give one’s life a sense of direction, helps to make the right decisions and at the end there is satisfaction and fulfilment. For Jesus, He understood the purpose of His existence and He declared in Luke 19:10 “For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost”. He thereafter set goals to help accomplish this mission according to Luke 13:32, Matt. 16:21. It is important to note that goal setting requires God’s wisdom as stated in Proverbs 3:19 “The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens”. Also write down key requirements that you will need to fulfil your mission, then organize and prioritize them. Goal setting requires discipline and critical thinking.

Action Plan: With specific goals there is a sense of direction.

Daily Confession: Lord, give me divine wisdom and understanding.

Intercessory prayer: Pray specifically for someone you know.
