Cast all your cares unto Him

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 NKJV

Bible Reading: Psalm 55:22-23

A few years ago, on my way to Burkina Faso, I saw camels and donkeys being used as transportation. These animals bore heavy burdens on their backs while their owners walked majestically relieved. Since it was a road trip, we parked for some sightseeing. I saw the way some of the owners’ beasts were confident and proud of the beast to carry their load. The scenario reminded me of our memory verse today.

We have a High Priest who is compassionate and knows our infirmities. He walks in them, so He knows it all. God knows that life can overburden us with different loads of care. However, God, in his faithfulness and love, has made provision to help us throughout our pilgrim’s journey here on earth by simply “casting all our cares upon Jesus Christ” because He truly cares. Like the story above, God wants us to throw every weight, need, worry, anxiety, and negative life experience onto Him, and He will carry them for us. What an amazing God!

It takes faith, obedience and patience to rely on Him. We must believe in Christ Jesus, who is always ready to bear our worries. No wonder Apostle Paul admonished the Philippians thus: “Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God”. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. Philippians 4:6-7 (AMP)

Action Point: Prayerfully present your burdens and worries unto God today

Intercessory prayer: Lord, may everyone in our circle of influence be reminded in this season of Christmas that You love us and load us with daily benefits.

Hymn: Cast thou thy care upon the Lord,

The care that loads thy heart;

Take Him this moment at His word,

And let Him do His part.
