Faith Dare — The Word of God

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be¬†successful.                    Joshua 1:8 AMP

Bible Reading: Psalm 119:1-16

An important spiritual discipline to cultivate is studying, meditating and living the word of God. Anyone that desires to grow in God must learn to engage the word of God. Faith comes by hearing God’s word (Romans 10:17). Our classic example is Joshua, whom God instructed to invest in God’s word to effectively lead the children of Israel. There is no faith without God’s word because “the people who [are spiritually mature and] know their God will display strength and take action [to resist]” (Daniel 11:32b). Knowing God involves paying attention to His word, both logo (written word) and rhema (revealed word). Jesus said that men should not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Take note of God’s expectation of His children to constantly hear every word from God. Here’s the word today: faith dares to invest in God’s word, study, meditate and live the life of the word. Such faith craves to encounter God and His power through His word because “In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him, not even one thing was made that has come into being” (John 1:1-3, AMP). Such faith speaks the word, believes God’s word and lives accordingly. Your attitude towards God’s word is important because you cannot abide in Christ Jesus without His word. Apostle Peter puts it this way: “Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness” (1 Peter 2:2-3, NLT)

Self-Reflection: God’s word keeps us growing in God.

Daily Confession: Lord, help me to grow in your word daily; give me the wisdom to overcome distractions so that I can continually abide in You through Your word in Jesus’ name.

Intercessory prayer: I pray for fresh hunger for God’s word in my city. I pray for a revival of and through God’s word across the world in Jesus’ name.

Hymn: Trust and obey

For there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus

But to trust and obey.
