End of Year Reflections and Evaluation (I)
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 1:10-12
Five days more to the end of the year 2022 and we will get into the new year. I would like to encourage you to reflect on and evaluate the year before stepping into 2023. One of the time to reflect is during your daily devotion and personal retreat. Focus on the good and the bad. Be honest with yourself and challenge yourself to be better. The Psalmist in our memory verse requests for wisdom to number his days because God is eternal and our time is temporal because we are pilgrims on a journey. We need God’s wisdom to live every second of our life. Like King Solomon, wisdom is required to lead a successful life. What do you need to reflect on, assess and evaluate in your end of year personal retreat and devotion? There are at least five areas I recommend focusing on: Spiritual, personal, professional, financial and marital. Please note that these areas are interconnected and you can consider it as you may. Let’s consider the spiritual today. It is important to consider your growth spiritually. Did you grow deeper in God? Did your life produce fruits of righteousness? Did you grow in your knowledge of God’s word, prayer life etc? Did you exhibit the fruit of the spirit this year? What encounters did you have in your fellowship with God? Did you evangelise about Jesus this year? The spiritual is the basis of every other thing. Once you have a honest assessment, identify your strengths and weaknesses. Strategize on ways you can continue and improve on the strengths and turn your weaknesses into strength. Dear friends, I encourage you to use this solemn time of the year to sort things out in your life in preparation for the new year. God bless you.
Daily Confession: Lord teach me to number my days that I may gain a heart of wisdom in Jesus name.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for God’s protection over as many who will have to travel during this end of the year.
Hymn: Ancient words ever true
Changing me and changing you
We have come with open heart
Oh let the Ancient Word impart.
