God Reigns (II)
The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted. (Psalm 18:46, NKJV)
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 19
As I write this devotional, I remember the song we used to sing back in the day, “the Lord reigneth blessed be the Lord, let the Rock of my salvation be exalted (x2). I’d like to magnify the Lord and exalt the name of Jesus. Across times and dispensations in the Bible, God showed He reigns over all things. The story in our Bible reading is an example. Sennacherib, whose armies had captured all the fortified cities of Judah, sent a message to Hezekiah to surrender. Hezekiah realized the situation was hopeless from a human perspective. He turned to the Temple and prayed to God. God answered Hezekiah’s prayer; he delivered Judah by sending an angel to attack the Assyrian camp, forcing Sennacherib to leave at once. Dear friends, because you believe God reigns in all situations, prayer should be our first response both in good times and in times of crisis. The prayer of the righteous avails much says the word of God. As we continue in the journey of this year, remember God reigns over all things. Let your faith hold on to His word over that situation and you will see Him come through for you.
Action Point: Pray concerning any situation you are passing through that needs God’s intervention.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for God’s intervention over your place of work.
Song: The Lord reigneth blessed be the Lord,
let the Rock of my salvation be exalted (x2).
