The Father’s Commandment (II)

This is the second: ‘YOU SHALL [unselfishly] LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:31, AMP)
Bible Reading: Matthew 22:36-42
The second Commandment is like the first. Love your neighbour as yourself. We cannot claim to love God and hate our neighbours because the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts. Jesus’ story of the Samaritan man teaches us to love (Luke 10:30-37). Beyond that, it shows us who our neighbour is and what it means to love. Love is about wanting the best for the other. It is not selfish but seeks the best for others by working out the version of the best Apostle outlines the attributes of love in 1 Corinthians 13. If the Holy Spirit truly dwells on our hearts and we allow Him to work in us truly and thoroughly, the fruit of the spirit will be evident in our lives. Dear friend, Father’s Commandment is to love– first God and our fellow human beings. Follow God’s commandment and your life will not remain the same.
Daily Confession: Thank God for your love. Lord help me to love my neighbours.
Intercessory prayer: Prayer for God’s intervention in the following nations: Nigeria, Turkey, Syria, and New Zealand.
Hymn: O God of love, O King of peace,
Make wars throughout the world to cease;
The wrath of sinful man restrain;
Give peace, O God, give peace again!
