That I May Know Him (II)
[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. (Ephesians 1:17, AMP)
Bible Reading: 2 Peter 1:3-11
Yesterday we discussed Apostle Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians. We underscored the fact that the quality of our knowledge will determine the quality of our life. Many Christians are suffering because they are ignorant of their identity in Christ Jesus. If our knowledge of God is important to our faith journey, then, we have to truly know God. One of the ways to know God is through His word. In Psalm 119, King David outlines the benefits of knowing God’s word. He writes: “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.” (Psalm 119:9). The Bible is God’s manual given to us. It is “God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Dear friends, be deliberate with God’s word. Study it, meditate on it and obey it every day.
Daily Confession: “[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people)”
Intercessory prayer: Pray for the nation of Turkey for God’s intervention, provision and God’s mercy. May this situation draw people to Jesus, amen.
Hymn: Knowing you Jesus,
Knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my all, You’re the best
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love You, Lord.
