The Word of God (I)

Continually pursue peace with everyone, and the sanctification without which no one will [ever] see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14, AMP).

Bible Reading: Psalm 119:1-8

God’s word carries the key to making us thrive in life and destiny in holiness and righteousness. In fact, the Bible has the key to living a holy life. The psalmist started Psalm 119 thus: “How blessed and favoured by God are those whose way is blameless [those with personal integrity, the upright, the guileless], who walk in the law [and who are guided by the precepts and revealed will] of the Lord. (Psalm 119:1, AMP). There’s no one who wants to walk with the Lord who will not make God’s word their companion. When Abram turned ninety-nine and God appeared to him, God said: “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless” (Genesis 17:1b). God requires holy living from us and through his word, we are cleansed (John 15:3; 2 Timothy 2:19). If we want to be sanctified, consecrated, and dedicated or to be separated from the world and worldliness, then we have to walk in the law of the Lord and constantly seek Him and long for Him with all our hearts (Leviticus 19:2; 1 Peter 1:16). This is because those who diligently follow God’s precepts, and observe and keep His statutes live in righteousness and walk in God’s ways (Psalm 119:3-8). Dear friends, to live a holy life, I encourage you to study God’s word, meditate on it, breathe it and live by it.

Action Point: Read Psalm 119

Intercessory prayer: I pray for fresh hunger for God’s word in the lives of my family members and friends.

Hymn: We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll;
fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love!
