Stay In There…

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired. (Isaiah 40:31, AMP)

Bible Reading: Acts 1

When Jesus was ascending to heaven, He instructed his disciples to tarry in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit because they needed the power to be effective witnesses (Acts 1:4-5). In Acts 2 we read that 120 disciples were in the upper room in one accord fellowshipping and suddenly, the Promise of the Father came. There are many lessons to learn from this story. One such is that they had to stay before they could receive. We have to learn to stay in God’s presence not to necessarily receive presents but to fellowship with Him. Our generation needs to learn the protocol of tarrying in the place of worship, prayer, Bible study etc. Our world has tilted towards the fast and quick ideology. Everything is built on fast-ness (fast food, fast wash, fast learning etc). However, our walk with God cannot be built on this ideology. In fact, it is the opposite because we must seek Him faithfully and diligently (Hebrews 11:6) and this requires time. Dear friends, I encourage you to stay in the place of fellowship. Learn to be alone with God. Tarry until His power comes and when you receive whatever you are asking of the Lord, do not leave His presence. Rather continue to abide in Him because that is the only way you can be renewed, refreshed and revitalized.

Action Point: Spend extra time seeking the Lord today.

Intercessory prayer: Pray for the authorities piloting the affairs of children’s schools (such as school boards, school districts etc) for righteousness to prevail. Pray for wisdom to make godly decisions so that your children can be trained rightly.

Hymn: Wait for the Lord, whose day is near.
Wait for the Lord: be strong, take heart!
