Daily Devotional – ‘In His Footstep’

April 20th 2023

Praying for One Another
I urge, then, first of all, that petitioners, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people– (1 Timothy 2:1)
Bible Reading: 1Timoty 2:1-8
Today at our weekly prayer meeting, we had a missionary testify about God’s faithfulness in their ministry in Turkey. Amidst natural disasters (earthquakes), economic hardship and other unpalatable situations, God still shows His faithfulness by sending help their way (Psalm 121:1-2). She presented the needs before the church so that people could pray. We prayed for her, her ministry and other ministries, missionaries and people in that country. Apart from the resources the church sent to support the needs in that country, we are constantly encouraged to pray– not just only for Turkey but for every nation of the world. Apostle Paul’s instruction to Timothy in our Bible reading today sums up the responsibility we have been given as Christians. We have to intercede for others. It is a discipline we have to obtain grace from God to learn because when we pray for others, we are showing God’s love and advancing the kingdom of God. In this daily devotional, “In His Footsteps”, we ask our readers to pray specific prayer requests under the ‘intercessory prayer’ section daily because we want to obey God’s word. Dear friend, check your prayer list. How often do you intercede for others? How much of your prayer is about you and not other people?
Daily Confession: I receive grace to be an intercessor in Jesus’ name.
Intercessory prayer: Choose someone around you and pray for them
Hymn: Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey.
