The Miracle of Sight: Seeing Clearly
I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the LORD says and how he will answer my complaint. Habakkuk 2:1 (NLT)
Bible Reading: Mark 8:22-26
Yesterday we started a series on “The Miracle of Sight”. I pray that the eyes of your heart will be flooded with light so that you can see Jesus and know who you are in Him. Sight is important because how far you see determines how far you go in life. Beyond seeing far, we have to see clearly. This is the case with the man in our Bible reading today. He did not see clearly. He saw men as trees. A sightless man was brought to Jesus to be healed. Jesus took him aside to minister to him. When Jesus asked him about the state of his sight, he said he saw men as trees. This means that he was not seeing clearly. He was meant to see men, but he was seeing a resemblance of men but in the form of trees. I pray that you will see clearly. Your sight will receive divine touch so that you can see Jesus and his plan for your life. Sometimes, unclear sight can block us from seeing what God is doing in our life, and we focus on the challenge or the situation. Sin, such as lust of the eyes, flesh and disobedience, can also cause unclarity. If you need direction, I pray for God’s express revelation, guidance, instruction and teaching for you to know His plan and purpose for your life (Psalm 32:8). If you are having problem hearing or seeing God’s plan for your life, there is hope. Jesus perfected the man’s healing, and he could see clearly.
Dear friends, if you want to hear and see God clearly, you must cut the noise away. Spend quality time in His presence. Meditate on His word day and night (Joshua 1:8), and let His word dwell richly in your heart (Colossian 3:16). Also, watch and pray because God instructs (Matthew 26:41). Start paying attention to your day— happenings around you, the people and the information that comes into your life. There is no way you can see clearly without Jesus. If you have yet to make Jesus your Lord and Saviour, this is another opportunity to invite Him into your life.
Daily Confession: I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians 1:18
Intercessory prayer: Pray for your family members that God will give them a fresh sight to see what God would have them do this year in Jesus’ name.
Hymn: Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
