The Miracle of Sight: Add Knowledge
For this very reason, applying your diligence [to the divine promises, make every effort] in [exercising] your faith to, develop moral excellence, and in moral excellence, knowledge [insight, understanding]. 2 Peter 1:5 [AMP]
Bible Reading: 2 Peter 1:3
Apostle Peter started his second epistle by acknowledging that “His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” (2 Peter 1:3). Knowledge (that is insight and understanding) is important. God speaking through Hosea says “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.” Many Christians do not really know Christ (who He really is) and who they are in Him (their true identity in Christ). Knowledge has to be sorted for. In Daniel 9:2, Daniel notes that he understood that Jerusalem’s desolation would last seventy years through books. He read to gain the required information about the condition of his people. He prayed (no doubt about that) and acquired knowledge by reading. Dear friends, one of the ways to gain sight is by seeking understanding through acquiring knowledge. Right knowledge makes your faith more effective. The fact that you are Christian does not mean you will be lazy in acquiring knowledge. Learn to read. Apostle Paul puts it thus: “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) Pursue knowledge through reading. First, read the word of God, and read books that would help you grow in your endeavours.
Action point: I encourage you to read a book on a subject you want to learn more about
Daily Confession: Lord, help me add knowledge to my faith by reading.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for God’s peace across nations.
Hymn: We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll;
fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love!
