Recipe for God’s Direction (III)

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart, And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. Proverbs 3:5 [AMP]

Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:5-7

Yesterday we focused on what it means to trust in the Lord. We reiterate that trusting the Lord means absolute reliance on and submission to Him. Today, we will continue reflecting on King Solomon’s instruction, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:6, KJV). To acknowledge is to accept and admit the existence or truth about someone or something. It also means to recognize the fact, importance or quality of someone or something. In our context, it refers to accepting and admitting the existence of God and the truth about God. It means recognizing the importance and quality of God in our lives. How do we acknowledge God in all our ways? First, by thanking Him for everything. The Psalmist says, “Give thanks to the Lord” (Psalm 107:1). Apostle Paul also writes: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (I Thessalonians 5:18); “Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).

In addition, acknowledge God by sharing your stories and testimonies of God’s faithfulness. The psalmist writes, “Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies” (Psalms 107:2, NLT). Testimonies are a powerful way to acknowledge God’s faithfulness in our years. The book of Psalm contains God’s testimonies of God’s faithfulness to His people. Finally, prayer is another way to acknowledge God. Apostle Paul puts it this way, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Philippians 4:6). Dear friends, God will direct your paths if you learn and choose to acknowledge in all your ways.

Daily Confession: Lord, I thank you for your faithfulness in my life in Jesus’ name.

Hymn: Trust and obey

For there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus,

Than to trust and obey
