God’s Presence (I)
Let us them with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
Bible Reading: Exodus 33
For the past few weeks, I have been studying the book of Exodus. It has been quite revelatory examining Moses’ growth through his journey. His experience, particularly in the area of his walk with God is a life lesson. One of Moses’ most profound response is found in our memory verse. He boldly ask and God answered. God told Moses that He will send His angel to go with the Moses and the children of Israel on their journey due to the rebellion and disobedience of the Israelities (33:1-2). In fact, God referred to them as “stiff-necked” people (33:5). The Israelites complained about everything. They never showed any gratitude, rather they pointed accusing fingers at Moses and God. There were they wished Moses had left them in Egypt to continue in their suffering instead of the their experience in the wilderness. They complained about food, God gave them manner. they complained more, God gave them quail. They needed water, God provided. When Moses went to Mount Sinai to receive the two tablets of the Testimony (31:18), the children of Israelite mounted pressure on the Aaron to make a golden image for them because they concluded that did not know what has become of Moses (32:1). After hearing God speak of his angel going with the Israelites, Moses boldly asked for God’s presence to go with him and the Israelites because God’s presence makes the difference. Moses says: And Moses said to Him, “If Your presence does not go [with me], do not lead us up from here. For how then can it be known that Your people and I have found favour in Your sight? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we are distinguished, Your people and I, from all the [other] people on the face of the earth?” (Exodus 33:15-16, AMP). Dear friends, God has not given you the spirit of fear– approach God’s presence with reverence and confidently make your request because He is your Heavely Father.

That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
