God’s Presence (VI)

But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. (Daniel 1:8, ESV)

Bible Reading: Daniel 1

As we wrap up this series, here’s a proposition to think about: “Dear friends, I encourage you to be like Daniel who proposed in His heart not to defile himself with the king’s meal. Carrying God’s presence will demand something from us. It will demand denying ourselves of food, sleep, giving up our time to pray and seek the Lord, and absolute surrender and obedience to His instruction, etc. For Daniel, it was the king’s meal. For Moses, it was unending time spent before God to hear and commune together. There has to be a resolve in our hearts to pursue God wholeheartedly. As Christians, we are temples of God which means God is our God, He lives in us and He wants to pour Himself into us so that His presence can continually abide with us and we can take His presence anywhere we go (2 Corinthians 6:16-18). After making the proposition in our heart, we have to back it up with actions. Let’s rely on the Holy Spirit to empower us to be effective in whatever our resolution maybe. Finally, what is that one thing that God may be demanding of us to lay down as a price for more of Him?”

Action Point: Set time aside to genuinely seek God for who He is. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you.

Intercessory Prayer: We pray for God’s mighty act to showforth in your family, household, friends, colleagues, working place, city, and church in Jesus name.

Hymn: Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch; like me!

I once was lost, but now am found,

Was blind, but now I see.
