Prayer is the Key (IV)

In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. Daniel 9:2-3, NIV

Over the past few days, we have reiterated the fact that prayer is not just a way to get by. It’s primary reason is not even for survival, it is first for fellowship with the Father. God wants to communicate and be in relationship with us as His children. Without prayer, revival cannot happen. Without fasting and prayer, we won’t experience some miracles. 

Further, through prayer we partner with God to bring His word to pass concerning our lives, our city and our nation, etc. This was what Daniel did. He understood “from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.” (Daniel 9:2). Daniel turned to prayer and petition for God’s will to come to pass. 

It is not enough to know God’s will, we have to be willing to partner with Him for the fulfilment of His word. Prayer is one of the ways we do that. When we pray, we submit and surrender our will to God to receive His own. We say, “Yes Lord.” Daniel prayed and his prayer was answered. We will examine the content of Daniel’s prayer.

Action Point: Spend one hour praying for various things in your life today.

Daily Confession: I receive grace for supplication in Jesus name.

Intercessory prayer: I pray for renewal of faith and hope for anyone who may have given up on life and on faith.

Hymn: Oh, how praying rests the weary!

Prayer will change the night to day.

So, when life gets dark and dreary,
