Be Strong and Courageous (I)

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Joshua 1:7, NIV

Bible Reading: Joshua 1:6-9

It was time for Joshua to lead the children of Israel after the death of Moses. Joshua had seen the unbelief, the ungrateful, the unruly, and disrespectful attitudes of the people of Israel. He saw what Moses experienced in the hands of the Israelites. Leading God’s people into the Promised Land brought fear to Joshua. Who won’t fear the Israelis, especially with their complaints? God called out Joshua’s fear and encouraged him to be strong and courageous. God is a loving Father is knows us inside out. No wonder He told Jeremiah, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb” (Jeremiah 1:5a). He knows our frailties and our strengths. He knows what we need and when we need it. In the case of Joshua, it was an encouragement to move ahead and lead God’s people. Dear friends, what are you going through? What’s the situation that is causing you fear? Fear not, for God is with you. “Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 43:1.

Daily Confession: No need for fear because “God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” in Jesus name (1 Timothy 1:7, KJV)

Intercessory Prayer: Lord, we pray for peace across different nations where there is turmoil in Jesus’ name.

Hymn: Take my life and let it be

consecrated, Lord, to thee.

take my moments and my days;

let them flow in endless praise,

let them flow in endless praise.
