Empty Your Alabaster Box

I assure you and most solemnly say to you, wherever this gospel [of salvation] is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her [for her act of love and devotion].” Matthew 26:13, AMP

Bible Reading: Luke 7:36-39

Our Bible reading today is about Mary Magdalene, a woman who had lived a sinful life, came to the banquet and began to weep, her tears falling onto Jesus’ feet, which she then wiped with her hair, kissed, and perfumed with expensive ointment from a jar (alabaster box). Some of the disciples raised eyebrows including Simon, who was shocked that Jesus would allow an impure woman to do this. Also, for them, the expensive ointment could have been sold and the money used for the poor (Matthew 26:8-10)

This encounter points out some key points: We’ve all got our alabaster boxes. Before considering anything, it starts with us. Our lives are the most treasured gifts God has given us. As Christians, we have to first give ourselves to God because He made us and we are the sheep of His pasture (Psalms 100:3). Dear friends, God owns us. We have to surrender all to Him. Pouring out our lives by living for Him and doing His will is the only thing we can do to acknowledge Him. If we give our lives unto God, then every other thing won’t be a challenge to give to Him.

Daily Confession: Lord I give myself unto You. I lay it all at your feet for the glory and the honour of your name. Amen

Intercessory Prayer: I pray for God’s provision and protection over families during this season.

Hymn: I surrender all,

I surrender all,

Unto Thee my blessed Saviour,

I surrender all.
