“Abide in Me”: Why It Is Important? (II)
If we [claim to] live by the [Holy] Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit [with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage– our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit]          (Galatians 5:25, AMP)
Bible Reading: Galatians 5:22-26
Fruit-bearing is a result of growth. It is not possible for a day-old mango plant to produce mango. The branch has to remain in the tree for every nutrient and survival. If you want to produce fine fruit, you have to abide in Jesus. As Christians, fruit-bearing is totally dependent on abiding in Him, “As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abides in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me” (John 15:4b). Apostle Paul outlines the fruit of the spirit in our Bible reading today. For instance, to exhibit the love of Christ, we need to depend on God because His love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us (Romans 5:5). If there is a fruit that you are not producing in your life or you are not producing in the quantity God’s want, the best recipe is to abide in Jesus. The more you stay with Jesus through His word, in the place of prayer with patience and endurance, such fruit will come out. If you feel your growth is stunted, go and abide in Him. Every branch has to abide in the tree for its growth. I encourage you to go to your source which is Jesus and abide in Him.
