An Intentional Decision (IV): Final Words

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me]. Matthew 16:24 (AMP)

Bible Reading: Matthew 16:24-26

We will conclude this series where we started. Following Jesus will cost you something. It may take you away from your comfort zone to a place of discomfort and sacrifice. It might require both financial and non-financial resources from you. In our Bible reading today, Jesus is preparing the minds of his disciples about the truth of the kingdom. If Jesus is both Lord and Saviour over your life, then you should willingly and joyfully give everything unto Him. God wants your prompt obedience because obedience is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of ram (I Samuel 15:22). Fear God because this is the duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Love the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul (Matthew 22:36). Choose to serve Jesus because we have to serve something or someone no matter what and I will rather serve Jesus than anything else. Dear friends, be intentional about your walk with God. Yield to Him, and your life will never remain the same.

Daily Confession: I yield my life unto You– help me to love you in all I do in Jesus’ name.

Intercessory prayer: Pray for God’s leading, wisdom and grace for effective ministry for your leaders.

Hymn: I have decided to follow Jesus,

I have decided to follow Jesus,

I have decided to follow Jesus,

No turning back, no turning back
