Approach with Confidence

Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment]. (Hebrews 4:16, AMP)

Bible Reading: I Samuel 30

In Today’s Bible reading, David clearly needed God’s mercy and grace. David’s camp was raided. His entire family and possession and that of his followers have been taken away by the Amalekites. David was devastated because he and his men were not expecting to be raided. In fact, they were coming from a trip where they had offered to help the Philistine in battle but was rejected for military logistics and strategic reasons. David and his men met the unexpected. Everything was taken, including their wives. They cried to the point that they couldnot cry again. David’s men thought of stoning David. However, David found strength in the Lord (I Samuel 30:6b). After the heartfelt cry, David responded by seeking the Lord. He approached the throne of grace to ask question and seek direction. God instructed David to pursue. God assured David that David would pursue, overtake and recover all. This was exactly what happened. Dear friends, no matter the situation, call unto Jesus with confidence. Did you need to repent? Turn to Jesus and embrace His saving grace. Do not allow issues of life to keep you down. Do not listen to the lies of the enemies. Do not let guilt and shame pull you back from coming boldy to the throne of grace. Jesus says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.

Daily Confession: I rebuke every spirit of fear in Jesus name (2 Timothy 1:7).

Intercessory prayer: We pray for encouragement for anyone who may feel discouraged due to situations around them in Jesus’ name.

Hymn: Lord, lift me up and let me stand,

By faith, on Heaven’s table land,

A higher plane than I have found;

Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
