Are You Pure?
To the pure, all things are pure; but to the corrupt and unbelieving, nothing is pure; both their mind and their conscience are corrupted. Titus 1:15 (AMP)
Bible Reading:  Psalm 24:3-4
What is the condition of your mind? What preoccupies your thought? These are important questions because how we see or understand things is defined by our level of insight. Have you ever been around some people whose communication is filthy and corrupt? It seems they see unrighteousness in everything. I have been around people who almost dragged me into corruption. But thank God for His mercy. During my undergraduate studies, I had a friend who was always luring me into thinking perversely because of evil communication. I observed that each time we met, we always talked about girls, who was going out with who and other evil communications that were not edifying. We may start our conversation on a subject completely unrelated to girls, however, as we continue in our conversation, something and somehow will make us drift and we will start talking about girls in our class etc. Most times after our conversation which were very frequent at least twice a week because we stayed in the same hostel, I felt filthy. One day when I was having my morning devotion, the Holy Spirit convinced me about this and that was when I received my deliverance from this bondage. Since I was not tactical enough to redirect the conversation, I stopped sitting down to engage in ungodly chatter because instead of talking about things that would have blessed our lives and edify one another, we gave our minds to corruption. To God’s glory, those conversations did not go beyond mere talk and both of us are Christians today and working for the Lord. Dear friends, to the pure, all things are pure. Are you pure? Does the word of God dwell in you? The psalmist says, ‘Thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against Thee’ (Psalm 119:11). Do you allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in you? However, to the corrupt and unbelieving, nothing is pure because their mind and their conscience are corrupt. The reality is that it is those with clean heart and pure heart that can ascend the mountain of the Lord and stand in his holy place.
