Daily Devotional – ‘In His Footstep’

Arise and Shine (II)
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Bible Reading: Isaiah 60:1-3
Yesterday we reiterate that Isaiah 60:1-3 is a command, not a suggestion. A command requires a response– obedience. The command to arise and shine is necessary because “darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples”. However, the Lord rises upon you (His child), and His glory appears over you. Light is effective in the midst of darkness. If you put on a candle in the dark, you will see how the candle will light up the place. Dear friends, you are light, and you are to shine for the world to see because when light shines in the darkness, darkness disappears. Darkness cannot overcome light. Because you have Jesus (who is the Light), your light has the capacity to shine over the earth and into the lives of the people. I encourage you to focus on Jesus and let Him work in you through the Holy Spirit.
Daily Confession: According to God’s word, I arise and shine in every aspect of my life in Jesus’ name, amen.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for your city for the light of God to shine and dispel any darkness in your city in Jesus’ name.
Hymn: This little light of mine.
