Capacity for More
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Jude’s, and in Samaria, and the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 (KVJ)
Bible Reading: Luke 24:49-53
Jesus’ final charge to his disciples when he was ascending to heaven was to tarry in Jerusalem until they receive the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit. Jesus knew that His disciples and by extension, believers cannot do anything without the divine empowerment from the Holy Spirit. In John 16, Jesus revealed “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you” (vs 7). Jesus further assured his disciples in John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor— Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) to be with you forever”. By the arms of flesh we can do nothing except we are helped of the Lord for it is “not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit” (Zechariah 4:6). The Holy Spirit empowers, gives utterance, supply boldness, guides, and helps us in everything we do. No wonder immediately the disciples received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues at the upper room, there was an unusual transformation. Peter who timidly denied Jesus three times spoke in front of the multitude and 3,000 souls were won for Christ even though he did not prepare his sermon (Acts 3). Apostle Paul understood the absolute necessity to lie on the Holy Spirit and he did exploit for God. No matter the level you have attained in God or the height in which you are now, there is always more. Build more capacity in God by spending quality time in His word, prayerfully seek Him and yield to His instructions. Decide to love God and ready to be a blessing to others.
Dear friends, for the world to access the possibilities in God, families, cities and nations need to turn or returned to God and allow His Spirit to work in us because He gives capacity to do more for God’s kingdom.
Action Point: Desire more of God and express your appetite for more of God by seeking Him daily
Daily Confession: Lord God I need you.
Intercessory prayer: Pray over your family for the month of May.
Hymn: I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
