Christ Lives in Me (I)
I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. (Galatians 2:20, AMP)
Bible Reading: Matthew 5:1-15
Jesus’ sermon on the mount opens our understanding of the possibilities in Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:1-12). He presents us with a God-focused, Christ-centered, Spirit-filled and Spirit-led life. It is only a life crucified with Christ that can live according to God’s standards. For instance, one cannot live in the reality of the beatitudes except with the help of the Holy Spirit. You cannot be true salt and light except through the power of God because it requires the fruit of the spirit — love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Matthew 5:13-16; Galatians 5:22-23). Apostle Paul’s assertion in our memory verse reminds us of this very essence: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20, KJV). Dear friends, if you have made Jesus the Lord and Saviour in your life, then you have been crucified with Christ and God wants you to live in the reality of who you are in Christ. If you are yet to take this life-changing decision, I encourage you to do so today.
