Fruitful and Faithful – An Introduction
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fist the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living that move the upon the earth. Genesis 1:27 (KJV)
Bible Reading: Genesis 1:27-28
Did you know that the first mandate God gave man in the beginning was to be fruitful? Before the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, after God had created man in his own image image and after His likeness, God commanded Adam and Eve to be productive, reproduce, or literally have children. This divine mandate is in many folds and over the next few days, we will reflect on what it means to be fruitful.
The subject of bearing fruit is central to the Bible and to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For instance, as Christians, we are to produce the fruit of the spirit. It is important to highlight some things as we begin this new series on fruitfulness: First, God’s instruction in Genesis 1:28 is not a suggestion, rather it is a command. It means it should be treated as such. If God’s command is not followed, then it is disobedience. It is God’s expectation of His creation. Secondly, God’s command is not only about giving birth to children (in the literal sense), this is one of it. It is fruitfulness in every aspect of life. Thirdly, God knows that like begat likes, hence, He called man who He created in He created in His image and in His likeness to carry out this task because He knew that man is capable of doing it. In fact, God gave man what it will take to do it. Fourth, God’s command is an act of entrusting something important unto man. Lastly, God gave man this command before man the fall. This means that man cannot properly fulfil this mandate in the way God intends if man is not reconciled to God. The capacity to fulfil God’s command, on God’s terms (not our terms) can only be found in allowing God to work in us through the redemption in Jesus Christ and the empowerment by the Holy Spirit. Dear friends, as we reflect on what it means to be faithful and fruitful as children of God, I encourage you to come along and trust the Lord to speak to us.
Daily Confession: God thank you for the trust you gave to me. Please Lord help me to fulfil your plan and purpose in Jesus name.

Knowing you,
There is no greater thing
You’re my all

And I love you Lord.
