Do Good (I)
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10
Bible Reading: Romans 13:8
One of the commandments that Jesus gave his disciples was to “love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” Matthew 5:44. This command of Jesus seems to be unconventional but we must live by it if we claim to be God’s children. Loving our enemies and doing good unto all men essentially go hand-in-hand, this is because if we do not love someone it is most likely impossible to do good unto them. The Bible does not categorize the people we must show kindness to, other than admonishing us that our kindness should cut across all people. Regardless of race, beliefs or background, we must not be selective and biased in showing kindness. The God kind of love is unconditional and  it reaches even the undeserving, the destitute and the afflicted.
As commanded in today’s Bible Reading, owe no one nothing except to one another in love, let us take every opportunity that we take very seriously and be intentional about doing good to all. This also speaks about forgiveness and as mentioned earlier having genuine love for people. Let us lay aside all prejudices and embrace God’s command to do good. Above all, listen to the Holy Spirit within you as He instructs you and guide you into doing good every day. Little acts of obedience do matter to God. May God help us.
