Do Good  (II)
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10
Bible Reading: Romans 13:8
Yesterday we looked at God’s injunction for believers to do good unto aĺl men and we mentioned that the God-kind of love was at the centre of this call to do good. It’s the God-kind of love that enables us to be merciful even to the undeserving, pray for one’s enemies and bless those who persecute and despise one. Doing good entails being helpful, doing that which promotes the physical and spiritual wellbeing of the other. The Bible admonishes that beyond doing good to all men, our focus should be more on those who are believers or born again Christians. This would make for peace and unity in the body of Christ according to Psalm 133:1. Let your generosity and kindness begin with your fellow brothers and sisters in the church. It is surprising to see how many are suffering in the midst of plenty in the body of Christ while others are lavishing money on clothing and partying. In the church of Goď today, there exists a wide gap between the rich and the poor, while the affluent are being given special sits and special titles to keep them in church there are those who have been silenced by their inability to make ends meet. Even though they are spiritually gifted, they are not given the platform to exercise and express the gifts of the spirit such as teaching, healing, knowledge, wisdom, prophecy, and many others. Let us be deliberate about doing God to our brethren who are of the household of faith that the body of Christ may flourish together and unity be established. Let us remember how the early Apostles dwelt together in Acts 4:32 “And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things in common”.
Daily Confession: I am full of love and kindness towards all men especially unto my fellow born again believers.
Intercessory Prayer: Father, please restore peace and unity to your church in Jesus name.
Hymn: I am Thine o Lord, I have heard Thy voice
