Do Not Be Discouraged (II)

For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may endure for a night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5, AMP)

Bible Reading: Exodus 1

The deliverance of the Children of Israel was challenging on many fronts. First, Pharaoh was a hard nut to crack. He was the classic example of an oppressor who does not want to let the oppressed off the hook for many reasons. For instance, who would take on the hard labour the Israelites contributed to Egypt’s economy if they leave? Secondly, the Children of Israel found it hard to believe God or even believe that their freedom was possible or near. Who would blame them? Some of them only knew slavery, hardship and sertitude their entire life. This means that their mindset, mentality and worldview was based on one thing, slavery. There was a need for the miraculous to shake up the people and offer them a different perspective of possibility, and hope of and for a new beginning. For a reader of this devotional today, there is hope. In fact, God is interested in you, hence, this word is coming your way. Do not be discouraged because “Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” (Psalm 30:5). In the midst of the situation, God’s faithfulness still abound. Who would have taught that the two midwives were God’s divine intervention for the Israelites (Exodus 1:17). Dear friends, in moment of doubt and trouble, reflect on those seemingly little miracles and breakthroughs. While you are believing God for a rain, thank Him for cloud that’s gathering. God is working even when you cannot see it, so thank Him for the thought and plans He has for you are of good and not of evil to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11
