Do Not Be Discouraged (IX)
“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. (Acts 20:32)
Bible Reading: Habakkuk 2:1-3
To bring this series to a close, I would like to reiterate that discouragement will come in life. It is not a matter of if, it is when. It is not in how many times it comes, rather it is in how many times we refuse to give in. Moses’ experience offers us the opportunity to see differently.
He faced serious challenges. Apart from the fact that Moses had his own past, the people did not believe God’s word initially due to their experience in Egypt. Pharoah’s heart was hardened which made life difficult for Moses. However, in the midst of all these, God was working things out. He showed forth His glory, softened the hearts of people of Israel and eventually delivered His people from slavery.
David was another example of someone who learned to encourage himself in the Lord (I Samuel 30:6-8). Dear friends, God’s word to a sure recipe against discouragement. Keep praying and believing God. Focus on the goal, stay grounded in the word, feed yourself with the truth of God’s word. Surround yourself with the right relationships and those who can encourage not discourage. God knows that “hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12), hence He will bring His word to pass because He does not say a thing and not bring it to pass. While you wait, keep deepening your walk with God, invest in yourself and continue to build because the vision is for an appointed time. Finally, Moses led the children of Israel out of captivity through the help of God and the assistance of Aaron, and God was glorified. Your testimony is here in Jesus name.
Daily Confession: I encourage myself in the Lord.
Intercessory prayer: We pray for encouragement for anyone who may feel discouraged due to situations around them in Jesus’ name.
Hymn: Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table land,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
