End of Year Reflection and Evaluation (II)
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
Bible Reading: 1 Kings 3:16-28
Taking a step back to reflect, evaluate and assess experiences is a prerequisite to success. We started our end of year reflection by identifying five growth areas in our lives: spiritual, personal, professional, financial, and marital. As children of God, spiritual growth is the basis of every other growth. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2). It’s God’s desire that you grow deep (with lots of tap root) and grow high (with branches and fruits) (Isaiah 61:3).
Today, let’s about personal growth. It is important to consider your habits, behaviours, actions and reactions. For instance, have you learn to manage your anger, overcome procrastination and laziness? Do you communicate effectively? Are you polite and considerate and responsible? Did you learn any new thing and develop new skills this year? In our Bible reading today, one of the prostitutes looked at the dead baby closely and realized the dead baby wasn’t hers. This realization made her to respond to the situation by taking the situation to King Solomon for his wise judgement. Dear friends, take a closer look at your personal growth this year. I encourage you to develop more capabilities to make you more effective and relevant. Where needed, change your mindset. Build human capital that will ehance your quality of life and enable you realize your drams and aspirations because God is interested in your fulfilment for His glory.
Daily Confession: Lord teach me to number my days that I may gain a heart of wisdom in Jesus name.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for God’s protection over as many who will have to travel during this end of the year.
Hymn: Ancient words ever true
Changing me and changing you
We have come with open heart
Oh let the Ancient Word impart
