Faith Dares – Healing

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds, we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 (NIV)

Bible Reading: Isaiah 53:1-12

Divine health is part of the salvation package because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross. The salvation package is holistic and not just deliverance from sin. To affirm this, our Bible passage says, “but He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV). Our understanding of this truth is crucial to our divine health. Isaiah 53:1 queries, “who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” When the eyes of your understanding are opened to this truth, we start agreeing with God’s word and exercise our faith for healing and divine health in your life. The story of Jesus and the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28 gives us a clear example of persistent faith. When she sought healing for her daughter, Jesus replied, it is not right to take the children’s bread (that is, what belongs to the Israelites, God’s chosen people) and toss it to the dogs (Gentiles or unbelievers). However, the woman’s faith was exhibited in her reply, “even the dogs eat the crumbs from their master’s table”. Her response amazes Jesus. Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire. And her daughter was healed instantly.” Vs 28. Dear friend, unlike this woman who was an outcast but received healing for her daughter, you became a joint heir with Christ as a child of God. Also, you have access to God’s inheritance since you accepted Jesus as your saviour and Lord. Therefore, healing is God’s provision for you. Believe in God’s word. Pray for your healing and that of others. This is not in any way implying that it is wrong to see a physician when you are sick. Medical practice is God’s gift to humanity.

Christ has made provision for your healing, and when you believe God for healing, you will receive it. I encourage you to grow in faith daily. Believe in God for everything, even our health.

Self-Reflection: Beloved, I wish above all that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. 3 John 2
