Faith Dares – Prayer

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us and if we know that he hears us- whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15

Bible Reading: Mark 11:12-25

If we believe God, whatever we ask, He will do for us according to His will (John 14:14). Faith dares to pray. In today’s reading, Jesus, our perfect example, shows us the importance of faith. Jesus cursed a fig tree because it was not fruitful. Jesus believed when he spoke the word, and the tree dried up. Prayer is a spiritual discipline that must be cultivated. It involves first rending our hearts, giving ourselves unto God and not going to Him when we need Him. It is a way to communicate with our heavenly Father through Christ Jesus. When we pray, we are saying, “Thy kingdom come and Thy will be done on earth” (Matthew 6:9). Faith that dares prays by the word of God, the written will of God. In such prayer, we rely on the Holy Spirit, knowing that “the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27). Pray without ceasing and as you pray, learn to watch (be vigilant) because true faith in Christ Jesus listens and follows godly counsel (Matthew 26:41; 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Finally, pray for all things and intercede for others.

Self-Reflection: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with perseverance and supplication for all the saints- Ephesians 6:18

Daily Confession: I pray by faith in Jesus’ name. Lord, teach me how to pray.

Intercessory prayer: Choose someone you know needs deliverance and pray for them.

Hymn: Ere you left your room this morning,

Did you think to pray?

In the name of Christ, our Savior,

Did you sue for loving favor

As a shield today?
