Focus on God and Growth
I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken (Psalm 16:8, NIV)
Bible Reading: Jeremiah 29:11
Welcome to the year 2023! May we encounter God afresh in the new year!
I have been seeking the face of the Lord for the new year, and I am excited about what God will do in the new year. I strongly believe His plan for us is for good and not for evil to give us an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11, KJV). What “expected end” do we imagine for our life? I am also confident that God can do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ever ask or imagine according to his power at work in us. The questions to ponder are what are we asking? What are we imagining, and how much of God’s power do we have? In 2023, we will focus on God and growth in every aspect of our lives. Like the psalmist, we will set the Lord before us because he is at our right hand, and we shall not be shaken (Psalm 16:8). We will keep our eyes always on God; our passion and devotion will be on Jesus Christ. Like King David, our hearts will pant after God, and we will seek Him every day of the year, both day and night (Psalm 42). In short, Jesus will be the centre of our focus, our sole priority. Hence, we will seek after Him. We will pursue growth in every aspect of our lives to continue building capacity for His kingdom.
Dear friend, I welcome you to the new year, a year we will encounter God in new dimensions. We will tend our heart unto integrity and our hands to skills (Psalm 78:72). I encourage you to set your priorities right. Start early. Deliberately choose to start and go all the way with God. Be faithful with your daily devotion, fast and pray, study, meditate, and live by God’s word. Also, plan for and work towards advancement in every aspect of your life. May God bless you! Let’s begin the new year as we seek God and pursue growth!
Action Point: Speak to the womb of the new year!
Intercessory prayer: Thank God for every intercession we will make in the new year.
Hymn: I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
‘Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.’
