Focus on God and Growth: Final Thoughts
There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42, NLT)
Bible Reading: Luke 10:38-42
As we bring this series to a close, I would like to encourage you to concentrate on what’s most important in this season. Seek God while He may be found and call on Him while He is near (Isaiah 55:6). From our past studies, we identified the need to embrace the ministry of the word and prayer, build godly characters, and pursue excellence. In our Bible reading today, Mary and Martha had the opportunity to choose, and Mary chose intimacy with Jesus. She focused on learning at the feet of Jesus. She heard God’s word because she loved Jesus. Mary will later pour perfume on Jesus due to love. “Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume” (John 12:3). Dear friends, in your focus on God and growth, let your love for Jesus be the motivation. I pray that by the time we take stock of the year, it will be evident that we have been with Jesus and have grown in him and into what He has for us.
Daily Confession: I receive grace to press deep into God and into all He has for me this year in Jesus’ name.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for hospitals, police stations, fire departments and other first responders for grace, protection and wisdom to handle delicate situations in Jesus’ name.
Hymn:  I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
‘Lord, plant my feet on higher ground’
