God Cannot Fail You (II)
I have been young, and now am old; Yet i have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendant begging bread. Psalm 37:25.
Bible Reading: Joshua 1
A few days ago, we started a new series, ‘God Cannot Fail You’. We reflected on God’s promise to Joshua (see September 12 for details). Let’s consider Joshua’s choice in provoking God’s promise, ‘I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee’ (Joshua 1:5c). Show me a faithful servant of God whom God has failed, deceived, and forsaken. God is not a fraudster. In fact, He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). A diligent service of and unto God attracts nothing but God’s attention, grace and blessings. Joshua was a classic example. He served faithfully — he was the right hand person of Moses. He showed an unusual appetite to know for in and for his generation. For instance, he would tarried in the tent with Moses to experience alongside Moses God’s amazing presence (Exodus 33:11). When he couldn’t come close, he would stay at the base of the mountain or far away as Moses instructed (Exodus 24:13). It was not a surprise that God by Himself assured Joshua that He would be with him and God did. This is because “…the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy” (Psalm 33:18; Psalm 34:15). Joshua conquered and successfully settled the children of Israel in the Promised Land. Like Moses, Joshua sought to know God’s ways and God revealed gave him extra — He revealed His ways and his deeds to Joshua (Psalm 103:7). Dear friends, here’s the point for today: God is too faithful to fail you only focus on Him (Hebrews 12:1-2). His hands are never too short to uphold and sustain you, only cling to Him (Jeremiah 29:11). Don’t be a stranger to God. Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). In case you are yet to give your life to Jesus Christ, this is another opportunity for you to accept Jesus Christ because He will never fail you nor forsake you.
