God Has Secrets Too
The secret of the Kord is with them that fear Him; and he will shew them his covenant. Psalm 25:14
Bible reading: Genesis 18
We all have secrets, sometimes we tell them to only those who are very close to us. At times, we may decide not to share our secrets with anyone. With the advent of technologies, it has become increasingly difficult for people to keep their secrets or that of others. For instance, several people post their private information on their social media pages and wait expectantly for others to comment, like or share their posts, even if such reactions might not reflect the true state of heart of the responder.
In the same vein, God has secrets and His secrets can only be assessed by selected groups of people, those that fear Him. Psalm 25:14 says “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant”. What is a secret? A secret is a confidential information that is not known to others or is not meant to be known by others. Such information can only be assessed on a high level of trust. When God reveals his secrets to men, he does so on the basis of trust. For instance, when God told Noah about the imminent destruction of the world by flood in Genesis 6, it was on the basis of trust. Also, God telling Abraham about destroying the city of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 18 was by trust.
What must we do to be custodians of God’s secrets? First of all, we must be born again and we must stay away from sin. The Bible says God’s eyes are too pure to behold iniquity hence, we must abstain from sin. We must fear the Lord with the whole of our heart. God has secrets about our lives, about the world, our community and different issues that he wants to share with us.
Daily Confession: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Lord I choose to fear you in Jesus name.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for those at the hospital for God’s healing.
Hymn: I need Thee every hour
Most gracious Lord
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford
I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee
